Read Our Top Tips to Show You How

Trust us here, despite the misleading title “broken suits” are contemporary and incredibly versatile. In a nutshell, they portray the art of fashionable “mix and match”. This trend of combining separate colours and fabrics is sophisticated and a somewhat life-saver when you need an all-new summer wardrobe.

With the UK experiencing its first heatwave of the year, there’s no need for you to break the bank on dozens of brand-new summer suits. Of course, quality and tailored fitting is a must, but we’ll show you how with the idea of a broken suit, you can you whip-up several different seasonal styles. All you need are a few stand-out essentials.

Tip 1: Stick to Similar Fabrics

Whilst we’re advocates of being adventurous and teaming a two-piece cotton suit with a linen shirt, it’s very easy get carried away and create unpleasant mixes, too.

A little bit of fashion intuition goes a long way. Be sensible with your choices, wearing three or more different fabrics in one suit is a straight-up faux pas. Consider the varying textures and weights of materials too; for example, combining a wool blazer with cotton trousers (and vice versa) won’t look “balanced” and will attract attention for all the wrong reasons.

Tip 2: Choose Your Print

this season and will give your suit a notable edge.

It’s great to be experimental but try one print at a time. For each broken suit you slip into, choose just one pattern and combine it with plain trousers or a blazer (depending on your choice), in a colour that brings the entire outfit together well. Sticking to just one print will avoid your suit from looking “too busy”.

Baby blue is a great summer colour. Consider a printed blazer in shades of baby blue, yellow and pink, and pair it with baby blue tailored trousers. Perfect.

Tip 3: Pay Attention to the Details

The modern broken suit is ideal for those who are looking to rock a style that’s unique and quirky. This contemporary get-up works even better when you pay attention to the details, such as shoes, belts or even a statement hat.

You may have noticed in various style and fashion magazines, that catwalk models sport bright, boldly printed socks with both smart and casual suits. If you’re feeling adventurous, teaming a broken suit with a pair of your own, will make you look absolutely summer-ready.

You could even go one step further and ditch the socks completely; how about trying a pair of man sandals with your next mixed-up suit? An ideal look for summer barbecues and casual get-togethers.

At Zebel Bespoke, we’re big fans of mix-and-match ourselves. We combine classy, high-quality designs with ideas that are unique and contemporary. So, for more tips about your new summer wardrobe, get in touch now and we’d be happy to chat.

When you go to a tailor, it’s much easier for them to reduce the size of things than it is to increase the size. Whether that means making your trousers shorter or the waist tighter, you should opt for things that are a little too big rather than too small when you’re buying off the rack.

Back in the day, there was really only one type of business attire: men wore suits, women wore dresses, and varying from that was pretty much unacceptable. Nowadays, some offices are perfectly fine with you showing up in a t-shirt and jeans and there are plenty of  hoodie-wearing CEOs. On the flip side, you probably won’t have an appointment with your lawyer or banker where they’re hanging out in jeans and a Hawaiian shirt.

People know that they’ll be judged based on their appearance and whether or not that’s a good thing is a philosophical discussion for another time. What matters is that the pressure is real. This pressure can cause people to spend thousands of dollars on plastic surgery, Botox , and other cosmetic procedures, when in most cases, all that’s needed is some fashion advice and new clothes.

When worn correctly, the right tie can bring a suit together and create a pleasing overall impression. Ties will draw the eye to the centre of your figure, focussing interest on your persona and allowing the eye to wander naturally to catch all the small design points and flattering aspects of your outfit. It concentrates your visual impact and immediately makes you look professional and reputable. Having said this, in recent years ties are been misappropriated as stuffy and potentially overbearing, and many situations have trended towards the casual so you might need to consider whether a tie is the right call. These days it’s not enough to be the best at your job. You need to look the part. To wear a sharp suit that fits well and is comfortable to wear. A suit that seamlessly transfers from working at your desk, to boardroom meetings to after-work drinks. A suit that can be dressed up or dressed down.
